Oh my oh my! What a great first week we have had. It is truly amazing how fast they have learned our school rules, procedures and routines. I am so very proud of them!!
On the flip side, this time of the year many kids are very tired and hungry. That is very normal so don't worry. Eventually their bodies will get adjusted to the longer school day and of course the temperature will drop and that will also help. Many kindergarteners are excited and nervous during lunch time. Eventually, they will also be eating more of their lunch as well! I told the kids that my two favorite words are DON:T WORRY so keep that in mind!
So, what have we been up to:
Math--using Ipads, numeral formation, number matching, sorting letters and numbers, number order and so on.
Language Arts: The theme this week is our Names--writing names with a capital letter first folowed by lower case. We are doing a letter of the day, formation, sound and a general letter review. We had our first guided reading lesson today with learning how to read to a partner, using picture clues and pointing to the words as we read them.
Social Studies: Our school--rules, helpers, teachers, learning our school pledge to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe.
So far--so great!
Thanks for sending me your very best every day!

Fantastic kids but weather..not so much!
We had a great first day learning the routines of Tibbets School, making monkeys with our first day highlights, having our first official "play time" and goign to the library. Our great librarian gave every kiddo a book to keep "forever and ever" so if you are wondering where the book came from, it was from our librarian.
Yesterday was an overall introduction to going to school and today starts our alphabet review. We started our alphabet art books and handwriting books. We read books about alligators and did a cute video about "Can you teach my alligator manners?" Every day we will have a new letter. We will practice formation of the letter, review it's letter name and the sound that it makes.
Many kids have brought water bottles and that came in so handy yesterday. I would say the biggest thing missing is the computer headphones. I am hoping to start with ipads tomorrow if possible.
Yesterday,l sent out postcards of each kid but it looks like only 8 of them got delivered via email. Bummer! I was so excited!
I am hoping to remedy that today. I apologize if you didn't get it on the first day.
I can already tell what a great class this is going to be.
I apologize for not emailing yesterday, I was honestly very hot and tired :( I bet a lot of your kddoes were tired as well. Thanks for sending the beach towels for our rest time. I bet I will have a few more that actually fall asleep today.(darn, I should have brought a towel for myself!)
Thanks for sending me your best!
